Analysis of the social and financial outcomes of social housing

Arguments against funding adequate social housing are often couched in terms of the cost of such housing to taxpayers, but there is much evidence to show that providing affordable housing adds value to not only the individual who is housed, but to the society and most importantly to the economy. The economic gains are measured in terms of the increased ability of individuals with secure housing to actively contribute to the economy.  These benefits exceed the costs of providing housing.
